Synchrotron radiation and neutron sources provide central methods for the research conducted at our institute. In combination with our laboratory methods, we investigate physicochemical fundamentals of materials production and processing, as well as the development of processes for applications e.g. in optoelectronic components such as solar cells or sensors and detectors, drug delivery systems, and the catalysis of chemical reactions. We also contribute to fundamental physics research, such as fundamentals of neutron scattering and the understanding of dynamics in molecular liquids, liquid metals, and biological membranes. Sustainable access to and easy reusability of our research data are essential prerequisites for efficient research work.
The DAPHNE4NFDI project, which is now receiving continued funding from the DFG through the end of 2028, is making a significant contribution to the further development and expansion of our research data infrastructure. In cooperation with German large scale facilities in the fields of photons and neutrons, as well as numerous German university groups and research institutions as well as international partners, we are participating in the development and implementation of sustainable RDM systems.
